The sun is back out in Brisbane and I have been working on another of my projects which I have had on the go for quite a while - my Sunflower Quilt. Sunflowers are one of my favourite flowers. This one is destined to be a wall hanging. It will be vivid and cheerful and was inspired by the Bernina Sunflower Quilt of years gone by that was used to promote one of their machines.
It will be a combination of hand embroidery, machine applique and stitching. My Bernina is a basic model ( 26 years of hard work and still going strong) and nothing at all like the model that was showcased by this quilt, hence the hand embroidery. I am looking forward to seeing it finished which I predict will still be a long way off.
it just wouldn't be right to only have one project on the go and they do say that variety is the spice of life. My quilting spice rack is quite full and I like it that way.
Happy stitching.

Slow Progress
Well work has been extremely busy and there has not been much time for sewing so my 2015 Finish-Along items have been stagnating. I have tried to grab some time every so often and as such have only been able to work on the hexagons. I have made some progress with these and am enjoying the hand sewing but am also wanting to get back to my sewing machine.
My last great effort on the machine involved these 2 quilts for our God children. They are made from Wacky Rolls by Wacky Jacky that I picked up at a couple of years ago. Lots of fun and quick to make. The orange in the blue quilt is a hand dyed fabric by Lisa Walton at Dyed & Gone to Heaven

I love her fabrics, they are such beautiful, jewel like colours.
Hopefully you have plenty of time for sewing this week. I know I am going to try to find some time.
Happy stitching.
